A data center’s considerable electrical appetite and consistently rising energy costs provide incentives and opportunities to explore sustainable design as a strategy to reduce operational expense.

Fox Architects’ inspired architectural concept utilizes ground source cooling strategies to dissipate large volumes of the building’s generated heat. These strategies include a heat rejection loop at the lakebed and integrated ground source wells. To contribute to lower electrical costs, photo-voltaic panels are incorporated in the structure’s roof.

This award-winning design emerges from both landscape and water; it is enclosed beneath an undulating, usable / accessible green roof system which offers contemplative views to the surrounding environment.
