In 2005, Monsanto Company decided to construct a new data center on their Creve Coeur campus to accommodate growing global data requirements and to improve information security. The new facility houses Monsanto’s vast computing network, supporting a broad variety of activities – from analyzing data collected for molecular breeding to processing a customer’s seed order information.
After Monsanto leadership had approved the development of the new data center, several architectural firms were interviewed and Fox Architects was selected for this challenging mission critical assignment.
Technical highlights of the building include N+1 redundancy of all building systems to meet Tier 3 ANSI / TIA requirements; structural/seismic integrity (category 4 earthquake); protection from F3 tornado wind forces; multiple Ameren UE (utility) power pathways; dedicated 2250 kVA generator for additional electrical supply protection.
