Loyola Academy is a Jesuit middle school for boys in grades 6 through 8. The school’s mission is to serve boys with the potential for college preparatory work who are in danger of failing to achieve that potential due to poverty, residence in distressed neighborhoods, or other social or economic factors. The school is located in the Grand Center neighborhood of St Louis.

Fox Architects was selected to design the conversion of a former industrial facility into a quality learning space. Our challenge was to create an environment comparable to any school in the St. Louis area. Classroom size, character and physical appearance all provide a contemporary, uncluttered atmosphere that compliments Loyola Academy’s philosophy and builds a sense of student pride.

“It is a rigorous integration of order, color, lighting, and mechanical. It seems the architectural solution follows the mission of the school.”   – AIA St. Louis Jury
